Welcome to the website of Lambda Alpha Chapter of the Alpha State Organization of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.
The Texas State Society was founded in 1929 by twelve key women educators led by Annie Webb Blanton in Austin, Texas. Approximately 14,000 members in 297 chapters of Alpha State proudly exemplify the mission statement of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International as they promote the professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. Selected for outstanding contributions in their chosen fields of education, members share the leadership and knowledge gained through the Society with schools and communities.
Taking the seven Purposes of the Society to heart, members are directed to carry the dreams of our Founders
into the reality of the twenty-first century as women in education are honored, mentored, promoted, supported and
encouraged. Each member pledges support for the program of work and policies of the Society. Members are connected
to and share ideas and talents with others in fifteen member countries. Benefits are derived from scholarships,
stipends, workshops, travel and study, conferences, international speakers and renowned presenters, leadership training,
continuing education credits and other programs. Networking with personal friends and professional contacts enriches
the skills and abilities of selected women educators.
